Dear Jane, I am a HUGE animal advocate. I not only had adopted chickens, but horses, dogs and cats. Now, I just have our 11 year old adopted terrier, Bailey. I commend you for the work that you do! I love sharing my adopted dog journey and her favorite homemade dog food named to her honor Bailey Stew. Bailey not only loves her homemade dog stew but loves sailing with us too. Moreover, loves her snuggy pet toys.

Also, we always have put cat bell collars on all are kittens and cats over the years. I am happy to see more people are more aware about using them to save more birds. I just read that cats are so smart that some of them have learned to walk without ringing the bells on their collars. From now on, I will be buying them bright color bib collars that are cat & bird friendly.
Kind Regards,
Elaine, Bailey, & Family

If you are going to bring a new pet into your home - please remember to reach out for the pets that are located at the animal shelters. By doing so you are giving a special pet a safe & happy home. Seek the older cats or dogs 1st since the kittens & puppies are most popular. Give an older pet a second chance. Bailey was a 2 yr. old adopted pet. Moreover, the older pets are more likely to be potty trained.

Best Dog Food Recipe - Bailey Stew!

Dog lovers are wondering how they can make their own dog food. See Bailey Stew - For Dogs of All Sizes To Enjoy At Suppertime!

Recipe Brought To You By fine jewelry eBay Seller elainesessentials:

My girl, Bailey, is a purebred Wirehaired Terrier and I got her from our Arizona local shelter (she was two years old). She was given up by a family of an older lady who couldn't care for her anymore. She just turned 11 on Oct. 28, 2019. As for food, she gets small bites dry dog food in the morning and every two weeks, I make a large batch of doggie stew. One container goes in the fridge and two go in the freezer. She gets a cup of stew every afternoon. She is a happy, healthy little dog!

Bailey Stew - Homemade Dog Food

Homemade Doggie (Bailey) stew for all size dogs:
  • Beef (I buy roasts when they are on sale and chop into bite size pieces). I -1 1/2 cup per batch of stew.
  • 1/2 32 oz. carton UNSALTED chicken broth
  • 1 cup of chicken livers
  • 2 medium size yams or sweet potatoes
  • 1-2 cups fresh or frozen carrots
  • 1 zucchini squash
  • 1 yellow squash or can use mixed frozen squash
  • 1-2 cups frozen green beans
  • 1/2 cup brown rice
  • 1 cup frozen spinach
Chop all vegetables into bite size pieces. Cook beef chunks until brown, add chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add yams, chicken livers and (if fresh) carrots, cook for 10 minutes. Add rice and remainIng vegetables except spinach. Cook for another 8 minutes then add spinach. Cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit until cool enough to divide into containers (I use ziploc freezer containers). One goes into the fridge and the rest go into the freezer. This stew lasts my girl, Bailey, about two weeks. She weighs 22 LB and gets 1 cup per day in addition to her dry food.

*Can also add corn, peas, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts, pumpkin, & eggplant. Studies show your dog can have a healthy snack of carrot sticks, green beans, cucumber slices, or zucchini slices. All of these veggies are safe for your dog to munch on but, like other vegetables, keep it to small quantities, especially if your dog isn't used to eating these types of foods.

NEVER add any kind of onion, potatoe or garlic.

*** Do not add regular potatoes because research shows raw potato or potato skins contain toxins and you should never give dogs raw potatoes. Learn more about people food you should not feed your dog or cat. Food to avoid giving to pets

Don't let your dog eat any raw potatoes or any potato plants from your pantry or garden. Although potatoes are a healthy vegetable for humans, it is best not to feed any part of a raw potato or potato skins to your dog because of the toxins they contain. ... Even in small amounts, your dog can have bad symptoms similar to food poisoning due to the solanine and chaconine.

*Always check first with your Veterinary Clinic if your dog has any type of food allergy when deciding to make your own doggie food.

For a summer treat add vegetables to a 1:1 mixture of chicken broth and water in an ice tray. Once frozen pop out one or true for a delicious hot day treat.
